When you go to any Asian country,
It is pretty common to see people wearing medical face masks. You might have seen it in Korean Dramas or pictures of idols on Google. It is assumed that if someone is wearing a mask, it means they are sick. This is not always the case. Usually people in Asian countries wear masks because of the high population density and they are cautious to not catch or give someone an illness. The other, and biggest reason is that Asia has bad air pollution. If you are going to China, that is where the main source of the pollution is coming from. Being in Korea, you will also experience the air pollution of China as the wind moves it into Korea. Some days are clear skies and other days are murky and dusty. Of course, sometimes the face mask is used as a fashion statement as well. You can easily purchase a mask at a Convenience Store. If you are traveling with a baby or small child, I definitely recommend them to wear a mask often. Getting an app that indicates the air quality is a good idea too.
